Day 1

Theme
We reflect the image of God.

Scripture
Genesis 1:26-27

Discussion
To truly understand ourselves, we must understand ourselves in light of who God is. Take a few minutes and describe God. What are some attributes that come to mind? In what ways are we like God who's image we have been made into? In what ways are we not like God?

If all people are image bearers of God, how does that affect the way you interact with every person you meet? How about the person you find yourself in conflict with? How about the people in your family?

Every life has value on the basis that we are made in the image of God. You are a walking, breathing reflection of God. Have you ever struggled to believe that you have value, that you matter? How does this truth impact they way you view yourself?

Prayer
My Maker and my King,
To Thee my all I owe;
Thy sovereign bounty is the spring
Whence all my blessings flow
Thy sovereign bounty is the spring
Whence all my blessings flow

Day 2

Theme
We represent what God is like to the world.

Scripture
1 John 4:7-12

Discussion
We know that God is creative. This is most obviously seen in the creation narrative in Genesis 1 where we see God create, by his word, everything that we see around us. Even if you don't paint or sing or sculpt, how can you be creative with the way you live to bless others and show them what God is like?

We know that God cares for the downcast and the oppressed. If we are to represent what God is like, what should our disposition toward the outcast, the widow and the orphan be? How should that work itself out in the way we live?

God is often described as a father. This has huge implications for the way we love and care for children. If you have children, how can you parent them in a way that shows them what God's love is like? If you don't have children, think of some ways you can show God's love to children. Some examples might be serving in Immanuel Kids or sponsoring a child through the Haiti collective. What else can you do?

Prayer
All that I am I owe to Thee,
Thy wisdom Lord has fashioned me
I give my Maker thankful praise
Whose wondrous works my soul amaze

Day 3

Theme
We reclaim the earth for the Kingdom of God.

Scripture
2 Corinthians 5:11-21

Discussion
God doesn't use statues to establish his kingdom. He uses us. We are to bring the kingdom of God here and now. We are to show forth the glory of God to our neighbors and those around us. How is your life showing forth the glory of God and his kingdom?

We have pictures in scripture of what the kingdom is going to be like. When Jesus performed the miracle of turning water into wine, he made better wine than the host of the party has served his guests. This was a picture of the kingdom. If Jesus brings the better wine to the party, how can we do the same thing in today's culture?

As our gospel communities spread, we hope that they are a picture of the kingdom to the neighborhoods they gather in. We want people to see Jesus in the lives of our GCs. Have you been living faithfully in your gospel community? Have you been loving and serving the people in your GC so as to show the love of Christ?

Prayer
For the light beyond the darkness
When the reign of sin is done.
When the storm has ceased its raging,
And the haven has been won.
For the joy beyond the sorrow,
Joy of the eternal year.
For the resurrection splendor,
She is waiting, waiting here!
