Recognize the enemies schemes.
1 Peter 5:6-11
What tends to distract you in life? What side tracks you from living on mission with your friends and neighbors?
We often get so busy with a lot of good things and in turn neglect the best things. Are there some good things in your life that you may need to let go of in order to focus on the best things God has called you to?
Do you find yourself tempted to join in or even start conversations that speak poorly of your brothers and sisters in Christ? What is your initial reaction when you hear gossip?

Respond in the right manner.
A primary way that the Holy Spirit speaks to us in the midst of struggles is through the scriptures. Can you think of a moment when God spoke to you really clearly through his word in the midst of a difficult situation?
As was mentioned during our gathering this week, we are certainly called to pray in response to adversity. When you face difficult situations, do you find yourself drawn naturally to prayer?
When we consider persevering in the mission that God has given us in the face of adversities, we know that we must depend on and empower others to do the work of the gospel with us. This is the work of discipleship and discipleship is the work of all believers. Who are you pouring into, building up and discipling?

Realize who gets the credit.
1 Corinthians 10:31
Finding rest in the midst of the work toward our mission is critical. We want to live in a way that is effective for the mission and that is sustainable at the same time. We can rest because it is God the one who sustains the mission. Do you have healthy rhythms of rest built into your schedule?
What does the passage in 1 Corinthians say can be done to the glory of God that we often dismiss as trivial? How can we do this activity for the glory of God and in the pursuit of his mission?
What opportunities do we have to praise God and give him the credit for good things going on in our individual lives, our families and our church? Where do we see God at work? Take a few moments and celebrate those things rejoicing that God is faithful to the mission he has given Immanuel.
Pray through Psalm 77:11-20
