We are facing a real battle.
As a follower of Jesus, you are called to advance the kingdom by proclaiming Jesus as King everywhere you go. Do you see this as your personal calling?
We are assured in scripture that this calling will be a struggle. Pastor Andy posed the question in his sermon, "I wonder if when you wake up on Monday mornings, to go about the mundane things of life, does it dawn on you that you are going into battle?"
How can you go about the duties of everyday life in such a way that proclaims Jesus as King and seeks to advance the kingdom?

We are reliant upon the Lord for victory in battle.
1 Peter 5:6-11
As you strive to live a life of faith, do you often find yourself feeling burned out or continuously exhausted and frustrated?
You have unrestricted access to the Father by the Holy Spirit as you struggle against sin and struggle to advance the kingdom. You do not have to strive in your own strength. How does this affect the way you think about and handle the struggles of life?
Pastor Andy said, "When we fellowship together as the church, God's spirit uniquely abides with us." We rely on the Lord for strength and he has designed community as an avenue by which we receive his grace and strength. How does this change the way your value being in community; gathering with your GC?

Our reason for battle is to raise the Lord's banner and to rejoice in his salvation.
1 Corinthians 10:31
We often find ourselves tempted to value our own glory, our good name, and our renown over the glory of God. When do you feel most tempted this way?
This week, we have considered the adversities we will face if we live as we are called, for the fame of Jesus. Consider and discuss how living for Jesus' Kingdom and experiencing these adversities is better than the momentary pleasures of living for your own kingdom.
As we go about the day to day of life we want to celebrate the good news of Jesus. We want to raise his banner over our lives. How can we do that as a family through our normal rhythms? How can we celebrate Jesus together?
