True happiness is not found in worldly wisdom.
The writer of the passage gives us a list of things in which he tried to find true joy. Where do some of things show up in our culture and in your life?
Where do you tend to search for your happiness? What are you most often tempted to run to instead of Jesus?
Talk through how Jesus is better than some of these things you've listed. (Example: Finding joy in money. Our wealth will not last but Jesus has satisfied our greatest need in salvation and promises to provide for us our needs.

True happiness is not found in your circumstances.
2 Corinthians 4:8-12
Can you think of a time when your circumstances dictated your joy?
What circumstances are you longing for? What do you feel needs to happen before you can be satisfied with your situation in life?
Pastor Andy said that to have true abiding joy, your source must be deeper than your circumstances. We are told in scripture to expect hardship and suffering in this life. How can we encourage each other to find abiding joy in Jesus in the midst of difficult circumstances?

True happiness is found in God.
Pastor Andy said that, "The way we access the fountain of joy, the way we access God, is through his word." How consistent has your time in the word been lately?
Do you usually find bible reading more drudgery than delight?
"The essence of sin is looking for good outside of God and his will." (Jim Johnston) We believe that God alone is good. What worldly "goods" are you misplacing your hope for joy in? Instead of looking to these we should say with the Psalmist, "The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup." (Psalm 16:5)
