Not everyone is in the family and we should be careful about presuming that we are.
Many have trouble with the idea that Jesus is the only way to salvation. Do you struggle with this belief?
What do we find in Jesus according to v.6?
How is the salvation of Jesus better or superior to the salvation offered by other, false saviors?
Begin prayer with Psalm 62:6-8.
We thank God for the salvation he has provided in Christ. We confess Jesus as our only hope and ask the Spirit to convict us when we place our hope in other things. We pray for God to advance the Kingdom and the family through Immanuel Church; that as we make disciples, we would boldly proclaim Jesus as our only hope.

Those who do the will of God are those who belong in the family.
The will of God, as Pastor Andy put it, is to believe in Jesus. This belief necessarily produces fruit. In the passage, we have an incredibly vivid picture of what Jesus has done for us and his purpose for us in salvation. What is the fruit of our belief in Jesus and of his salvation?
What are good works that we do as a part of the family of God?
How can we grow in obedience to the will of God?
We pray rejoicing that in salvation, we not only receive the righteousness of Jesus but also his perfect obedience. We thank God that he has given us a family to lean on as we work out our faith and seek to be obedient. We ask for eyes to see and ears to hear how we can serve one another as a family and together serve the least of these in our communities. We desire to do good works and confess that we are reliant on the Spirit to give us strength.

Reorient your life to value the family.
From the passage, we see that Jesus was willing not only to suffer, but to die for those he would save, the Church. If Jesus values the church this much, how should we value it?
What are some practical ways we live that show we value the family of God?
What do we need to change about the way we live in order to reorient our lives around the family?
Is there a specific member of the family that we can pray for, encourage and serve this weekend?
We pray thanking God for the scandalous grace we have received in the suffering and death of Jesus for our sins. We recognize that Jesus did this for his bride, the Church. We praise God for the family that he has given us in Immanuel and we confess the ways in which we fail to value the church. We ask for the Spirit to soften our hearts and move us to love and care for one another well.
